Expect to pay another $200 worth or more depending on the brand for extractors, I paid $440 two years or so back on my old Sierra for Local made extractors and exhaust system, that was without a CAT though.

You should try get the whole thing done at the same time though saves on labour costs generally. So $220 from the extractors back doesn't sound too bad, but you should ask if that comes with a new CAT or if they are going to just weld in your old one. The gains from having a new high flow CAT or none at all are going to be greater.

i am going to drop the car into him on Thurs. Will the car need to be tuned, or will i notice the improvement straight away. I am doing a trip the next day over easter and don't want to have to tune it. Will a new exhaust cause me any immediate problems. ie/ running rough?

no it does not need to be tuned.
have a look on ebay and you can get extractors from max headers, about 190 plus postage.

I got a quote from two places today. 2" exhaust for $220, New Cat for $220 and extractors for $200. Or $700 all up. thats fitted. Also they reckon the 1.3 wont benit at all from a high flow cat.

Any cat is a high flow cat on a Sierra :)

I paid $720 fitted for Genie extractors, cat, high flow muffler and two resonators, 1.75" all through. Was quoted mild steel but they did the front half (extractors -> cat + cat -> muffler) in stainless. Nice burble at idle, just slightly more throaty than the pea shooter was, but quiet as on the highway - no drone or noise at all.

Performance? Probably not. Certainly not so much that I can notice a difference in power or economy. But it sounds nice at idle and I'm happier than I would have been with another stocker for some reason :D

I paid around $450-$500 for genie extractors and a 2 inch exhaust fitted to my 86 sierra (no cat) from an exhaust place in airport west.

It's been in the car for about 4 years and have had no problems. I only got a slight gain in power and a cooler exhaust note.
