any one know if you can get checked ova the pits voluntarily

Gday
went to ge parts of my 4runner engineered the other day as its not fully complete. was told that there is a good chance the rta will want it taken over the pits. if this does happen there is a good chance depending if i get a F*&kwit or not, that i will be knocked back on lift, track, blah blah,.. and depending how they interprate the ncops/ state regs etc. does any one have contact details of a rta inspector or have themselves been over the pits on the central coast-newcastle area? i was advised by this particular engineer to try and go over and see what they say before he writes one up and have it torn up etc.

sounds like you need a new engineer.
Isnt the whole point of seeing an engineer the fact that they are a professional, you are paying them as such to interpret the rules and regs and advise you on what can be done and what needs to be done to stay within the rules?
As a professional they certify that what you have done is compliant.
As far as voluntarily taking your car in to be inspected, I'm sure you can book it in to be done. I'm pretty sure that if they find defects you will still have to fix them regardless of wether the inspection was voluntary or not.

yeah mate thats what i would of thought, but thats what the bloke advised me of, the whole idea of getting engineered is so i can provide proof the mods are legit/ safe to the dumb ass highwaypatrol that plauge my area.

as said, take ya car over, if they find problems they will shaft you...
Did you do all these mods then go see engineer, or started off asking him what you can and cant do?

An engineer will only certify the modifications you ask him to inspect and will only issue a certificate if these are legally done.
If you have a full engineer certificate for a diff swap thats great, but if the rear main is pissing out oil you will still get knocked back for road worthy. Is this what your getting at?
OR
If you have a big lift, motor conversion etc and you only get part of this work certified, then whatever you didn't get certified is going to get you knocked back? Is this what your getting at.
If you get ALL your modifications engineered, this should mean that the modifcations are roadworthy. It does not mean that the vehicle is roadworthy. Engineers dont care if you have oil leaks, bald tyres etc. The RTA does.

v840, i just thought id ask in here for those that dont get into the toyota forum, cheers. i had asked about the mods i intended doing before undertaking them but since then 2yrs ago, i have had concerns with potential change in regulations etc, i was told today the ncops have not been adopted by NSW until they have finished revising them. under the ncop my car wont comply due to lift and track mods.

basically i was getting at making sure the mods ie lift etc are legal and that i dont get knocked back on mods that have been engineered. im getting every thing thats been done engineered... if i can. i think my issue from the start was dealing with this particular bloke whom i now see is "pissing in the wind"
