Benny (Wicked) runs the 250 with auto in his MQ. Pretty sure he's using 60 series transfer behind the auto.

for the effort and parts involved, why not use a later OHC 4L engine, with a C4 and the rest of that combo.
if you dont want the EFI there are off the shelf manifolds to use a 4 barrel holley, the same company with also modify a 250crossflow dizzy to work in the OHC engine.
more power, more torque, smoother, the list is endless.

it all depends wat i can get my hands on at the time brad but if i can get the stuff easy enough i may go that way
my main prob is finding out how to do the divorced transfer is all
the rest is easy fuel injected or not

with either engine, if you go auto, you can use a C4,
i'd be spending some time researching what and how people have mounted t'cases behind them.
for a manual, both engines can use the T5 with a divorced t'case.
sorry i can't help with advice on how to get the t'case to fit, just thought i'd throw the OHC engine as an option.

I would rather have a five speed manual than a three speed auto.
C4 is good but it is getting pretty old now.

buting a x/flow dissy in a ohc motor is easy its just a matter of drilling one hole in the block (been their on race cars) and lwb mq/k came with devorse transfers standard but not all of them

Stalkers!!!
I have a ZL Fairlane EFI 250x-flow with a C4 auto. Auto mate's to a 60's Land Crusier T-case via a Marks Adaptor kit. Think mine is the MFK394
Has tube Engine mounts and Tube x-members.
SD33-T Radiator with Twin AU Falcon Thermo's
Air system has changed since the pic (Below) too.
Computer is under the glove box.
I had a modded Air Flow Meter (made a difference) but stuffed that when I rolled in to water.
I Love my Auto!!!
http://www.marks4wd.com/products/engine ... d-auto.htm
Marks Shifter plate (hi-low lever bracket) is weak as piss and keeps breaking (pics later) and could be made better and is like $120+ every time! I'm gonna make my own soon but every time I've broken it I've not had time to make my own.
If you wanna use a Divorced T-case, MQ/MK would be the cheapest.
There is Room to spare too!

wicked have you got a pic of the shifter plate etc so i know what ya mean
and i may be able to get one made if you can get sizes as i have heaps spare time lol
and hill billy where abouts do you drill etc and what is needed to do the overhead cam so i could run a carby etc like someone said or still keep fuel injected
im looking for easiest option

Not yet dude, Tuesday.
It's not just the time, There is like 5 thread holes and the taps needed to make them rang from about 10mm to 24mm. So unless you have a huge range of taps you'd need to buy them and I don't want to think of what a 24mm tap would cost!

you've gotta love this site, the motto should be TALK IS CHEAP! if you bothered to find out [wicked]you would know that i was asking $1500 for the complete engine minus gearbox, radiator, clutch.but im gonna do what u said-buy a falcon, conversion kit, have it engineered and after ive bought all this stuff, good, for nothing. i will have something 'good for nothing'....
