just want to know how much work there would be fitting a injected 5 litre and auto into the hilux? its an old motor with lots of K's but cheap.

How much of a lifespan would be left in a VN calis 5 litre with 350 000K on it when fitted to the lux gettin thrashed round the bush?

Cheers

Hey Waz,

I fitted the vp 5L into my 97 dualcab ln106 in 4 days.

First day: pulled out diesel, swapped bellhousing, fitted handbrake pulley, lowered front brake line chassis mounts, fitted clutch slave cylinder setup, took slack from clutch pedal to allow for more push.

Second day: got the v8 running hanging from a chain in the shed to test wiring method. I used a holden camira fuel pump. (same as v8 and had one in the shed) Fitted modified engine sump... This needs to have the arse chopped off it and a box welded on the front to allow clearance of front diff under suspension travel.

Third day: Fitted engine and modified passenger side extractor as It wouldn't fit. Welded up exhaust system so it would all work.
Fitted fuel pump under ute and hooked up all the fuel lines and pollution gear etc.

Last day, wired it all up and made radiator hose modifications so it would fit, ripped out air cond and fitted thermos. Tidied up everything else and drove away.

It is a big job and I was working around the clock out in the yard under a tree with a block and tackle, worklights... and lots of cups of coffee.

All passed engineering and is basically a great mod. lots more power and fun to drive. uses lots of fuel though.

I did my conversion bout 6 months ago and am now currently turning the v8 into a 383 stroker. I hope to put the engine back together tomorrow night and I can't wait to see how she goes... expecting 400hp

Cheers
