everyone does straight gas through a gas dedicated carb. itll be reallt hard to tune and run like shit most of the time (through the revs) if you use a petrol carb.

need to pressurize the float chamber as well and the then u need to make sure you have a solid flot or it will be crushed

go efi
itll cost about 500 for the efi setup when you find one, then just keep the boost reasonable and tune it with the timing instead of a big dollar ECU setup. a good tuner will do it on the stock ecu, just dont push it too far as it wont keep up.

i was thinking of efi just thought it would be easier to keep it the way it is..
im only goin to run low boost about 8 just to give it a bit more go.. just at tuff truck i just needed abit more power in some parts.

why not run a draw through setup with no intercooler?

been investigating this a fair bit myself lately.

come to the conlcusion, that i will convert to EFI and run a microtech ecu.

seems to be the easiest, most cost effective, and reliable method from the reading i have done.

mate, you can pressurise the carbie bowl, and change floats, but at the end of the day, for boost, the std gq carbie is rubbish. After about 5psi they will leak from most seals, causing you more dramas then what they are worth.

your only options are either efi, or straight gas, its too much work to try and turbo the standard carbie.

if that is so then box the whole carby and pressurize that i have done this before on a rotor worked a treat was not so many vac lines and wires though but it could be done as there is only a few that go to other places than the back to the carby

I am in the middle of turboing my tb42 efi at the moment as well.

Fitted everything up myself at home (Turbo, Manifold, Intercooler, Pipe Work, etc) and carefully drove it to my mechanic who fitted the haltech computer up.
Ran out of injectors at about 2200 rpm (as we thought we would) so bigger injectors are coming, Mind you it was making 100 kw at the wheels at 2200rpm.

Probably will need more fuel pressure amoungst other things.

Straight gas is simpler but you still need to flow enough.
If you are going to the trouble of a different ecu may be better off putting in an efi manifold with skyline GTR 550cc Injectors and wiring them into your ecu. That way you have a great base for any further upgrades.

just wish Ruddy would hurry up and give me my money to help pay for it. :P

yes to mod carby or fit efi . and yes you will need more fuel so up grade to an bosh 044 fuel pump as well as injectors mate

yep pretty much, hence why im goin straight gas, also this way i dont have to worry about compression ratios as much

You could use a barry grant mighty demon blow through carb and run the intercooler pre carb. They do a 575cfm or there abouts that should be suitable, an old co-worker had 1 fitted to a turbo intercooled 265 hemi centura.
