Hi All,
I heard recently that it was quite easy to "bolt in" a Jimny power steering set up into a Sierra.
Has anyone done this? Is it as "simple" as it sounds?
Thanks,
Greg

geez mate, i don't know if i can spare it - it'll go pretty nicely with the LJ body and the 1600 fi vitara motor too...

Greg, yes it is very easy.
I did it to my sierra about 12 months ago. I also replaced the old 1.3L with the new jimny 1.3 efi motor. As the engine blocks are identical all of the mounts are the same so it is pretty straight forward.
I can get some pictures in the next couple of days if you wish.

Yes it bolts straight in, angles are the same.
Steering column will need shortening and the pitman arm is the same as a Vitara (different upper spline to a sierra)

thanks guys, that was a lot more feedback than i was expecting on that one...
i look forward to seeing these pics.
Hey ThaOldMan, is the 1.3 jimny motor worth doing, I thought most people would go to the 1.6 vitara with the efi instead?

All those things are on my wish list
I think sticking to 1.3 gear would mean less breakage, more reliability, and more likely to pass engineers report, as you have made no real big changes. Also easier to fit an Auto, if you wish, with no major tail shaft issues, or hassles of converting rear of Vit Auto, etc. But 1.6 be OK ish I suppose.

I am running 31" tires and rockhopper with the Jimny motor and it drives very good. However if you have plans to go to a bigger tire size u will need to go bigger than the 1.3 EFI.
I put the Jimny 1.3 EFI & power steering in because it required next to no mods. (i only had to relocate the radiator bracket) and I was able to do it by myself at a very reasonable cost when compared to the Vit 1.6EFI.
I will be getting it engineered but i have been told that because i havent increased the engine capacity a eng cert. isn't required which would again be a significant cost saving.
