60 series vent question - who can shed some light?

ok, i am doing up my 60 as some of u know.
now my question is,
i have noticed on the imports that they have a vent just behind the the wheel arch, i was just wondering what they are for?
and where the vent goes too..

Its designed to air out the guard cause of water sitting in there creates rust mate.

Those 60's in the pictures aren't imports, they're US 60's. The vent is for a fan that blows cool air onto the carby if it gets too hot. I don't know why the OZ spec never got it.

All three are US, no floating rear axle. Carby fan.
