Im just putting my new "Tigerz11" winch on my GU and having never installed a winch before dont really know what im doin!

I wanted the winch cable to wind like off the bottom of the winch drum when winching or free spooling out but because of my bullbar design ive had to mount the winch lower than anticipated so now it means so I can get the cable through the fairlead ok the cable off the winch drum has to wind off the top of the drum sorta thing? make sense?

If anyone can understand what im trying to say can you see any problems with this or is this a normal thing to do? out will still be out and in will still be in wont it? or do you have to mount your winch so the cable runs out of the 'bottom' of the winch drum??

I think the only prob that it would cause with a Warn low mount is the motor drain holes, but the winch has to feed the line in from the correct side of the drum because of the brake operation. I'm not sure how this compares to the Tigerz11.

the problem i ran into with mounting a low mount winch upside down was that the brake only works in one direction, when you invert the winch you need it to spool in the opposite rotation, which means that the brake does not work.
only a problem if you are parked on a hill winchin in.

If you mount it upside down and spool in from what used to be the bottom of the winch (now the top of the winch) then yeh the only problem might be drain holes. As long as you haven't reversed the way the factory intended the cable to spool on and the fairlead is in line with where the cable spools off should be no probs.

Cheers

Yeah ive noticed it doesnt seem to have any drain holes so I might have to drill one..

I rang Paul from Tigerz11 today and he said it is ok to mount it the way I have, Need to say thanks to Paul for answering the phone on Good friday!

It seems to be a good winch though and everything seems to be good quality...

Thanks for the help guys!
