Im looking at buying a petrol LO roof LWB(has stuffed engine,12v)manual trans, diff lock etc
I have LWB HI roof diesel (after market turbo,24v)that has a stuffed auto trans which I have removed.is a bit banged up in the body etc.

was going to fit diesel engine to manual trans

*need diesel fly wheel, clutch, starter motor?(is gearbox input spline some on both?)

*well petrol bellhousing fit to diesel motor?

*can I run a 12v starter on the diesel so I can leave hole vehicle 12v???
As far as I know there are no electrics on the the diesel engine(1990model)

Cheers Shane

OK, While the Diesel is Mechanical Injection it does have some electronics. The Fuel Cut Solinoid built into the Injector pump, the Glow Plugs and the computer that runs them. Since they are coming from a 24v system so if you want to run it at 12v, then you will need to replace the solinoid in the pump (expensive job) the glow plugs and glow plug computer.

better Idea might be to put the Manual trans into the hi roof unit and run it that way thru 24v

you will need 24v starter

lo roof is petrol(LPG)hi roof body in very average conditon

I may run 24v starter,winch,glow plugs,shut off solinoid etc

I dont use the glow plug computer,I have a manual switch set up(glow plug computer crapped out and suffed a set of glow plugs so I wired up a manual system with buzzer so I know when they are on)

good point though, would need to change relays over from diesel vehicle if I go ahead.
