Outer Limits 4x4 Board

want to get a set of 35s for my 4b will it get off the mark and run ok with 4.35s diff gears
it is 2.8 turbo diesel hilux
also would you advise running 15x10 with 35-12.5s i no its illegal and dont care

id still run them on 15x8s

waiting to hear back on a set of mtrs my rims at the moment are 15x7 so i will have to up grade and i can get my hands on 4 15x10s at mates rates and i will need bigger offset cause i dont have the hub kit or spacers so i thought this would be the easiest optoin for now

Go the 15x10s. Have had 35's on 15x10's on 2 different cars and most of my mates used to run 35s on 15x10 in the past (now mainly 38+ on 10's & 12s).

Only ever knocked em off the beed once or twice despite running em @ low pressures. Cars are noticabely more stable on 10's over 8's or 7's and 10" rims are legal if engineered and i know of at least 10 mates (including myself on 3 vehicles & 2 different engineers) who all have 10" rims engineered.

As long as the tyre is of 12.5 width they will sit nice and flat in regards to both the tread and sidewall.

I don't know what engineer you are using,But my enginner has showed me the rules where a 4x4 can only run a maxuim of an 8" rim.

but i think u will find it depends on the diffs / doner car etc

f100 type diffs etc.....prob including larger dana diffs , would b legal with 10's

i kno many of the street machine type crowd who used f100 9inch diffs to get 10inch rims passed

so there could well b a clause that lets them slip thru

It will go but you will notice a huge reduction in power. 4.88`s will help heaps. I run 4.88`s with 33`s (roadies) and the final gearing is the same as standard.

From the RTA's Info sheet 9

An important requirement for all replacement wheels is that the wheel track must not be increased by more than
25mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that vehicle.

Where non original axle or suspension components are fitted, the offset of the wheel in relation to the axle or stub
axle assembly used shall not be increased by more than 12.5mm each side of the vehicle based on the specifications
of the axle components used. If an axle assembly is shortened then the track width limit is taken as the axle
manufacturers original track dimension, less the amount the assembly has been narrowed, plus 25mm.I

f you are contemplating fitting non original axle or suspension components you should seek the guidance of a
signatory as engineering certification will be required (see page 3).
Minor changes to wheels
Wheels up to 26mm wider than the largest optional wheel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the
vehicle can be fitted without the need to notify the RTA.
The outside diameter of the wheel and tyre combination must be no more than 15mm over the largest diameter
wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle and not more than 15mm below the smallest diameter wheel
and tyre combination specified for the vehicle.

You can go up 25mm over the track of the axle, not the original vehicle. But the axle doesn't define the track, the axle and wheel combination does, so I'm not sure how they figure that out.

15x10`s Are the Go, I run them on an 85 live axle 4-runner, the front rims rubbed on the disk callipers (I have upgraded to vented discs) so grinded off 3mm the top edge. I run only 33`s but the stability now makes a huge difference over the old 7 inches steelies .

its all good got the 35s 15x10s on today went for a drive no great power loss looks the part drives a bit better has nice tyre noise

only problem i have is tyre rubs on the leaf on full lock to the right but not locked left
