You open the ol can 'o' worms asking questions like that !!

Some people love em others hate em !!

I have run them F & R for 3 years and never had any problems. If you are going to do comps etc then I would consider the xtra $$$ for the ARB but for a trail rig go for it :)

as long as you don't expect them to drive as well as open diffs ON road, go for it. as long as they're properly set up they're bearable.

if you're going to run bigger than 35" tyres I'd save up for air lockers, they are far stronger.

I run Lock rights front and rear in my lux and reckon they're great, although tight turns in 4wd are not an option. The Lokka is a copy of the Lock right and apparently there have been problems with them, that said my brother in law fitted one in the front of his Jackaroo against advice and hasn't had any problems with it. They do need to be driven differently on road, you need to be smoother with throttle movements.

Yeh im aware of potential on-road problems. I drove a torana with a welded diff for a year! Im talking more off road. durability and drivability etc.

No problems with reliability as long as you keep good clean oil up to them. I've had mine for approx 3yrs and only once did the rear one appear not to work and behave a little eratic. I had it checked out and the diff input bearing was worn, while it was out I had the locker springs and pins replaced although according to the mechanic the old ones were fine. BTW spring and pin kit is only $30. Driveability is fine off road but like I said your turning circle suffers. Had no troubles with them locking and unlocking on the track, completely predictable. You just need to get used to the clunks as it does cycle.

I havent had much experience with the lokka or lock rite style of diff lockers...but I have had plenty of experience with the ARB air lockers as I have these fitted front and rear to my HJ60. Never had a problem with them and the ability to turn them on/off as you please is a great advantage...plus the noise they make when you release the air pressure always make me smile :) :) :)

I only use them when I really need them becasue I like to see if I can tackle the tracks without them first! I service the compressor once/twice a year and believe me when I say that it is a really easy operation.

So my advise would be scrimp as much money as you can and go straight for the ARB air lockers!
