G'day Folks -
Ive got a zook 85 LWB Ute..
Up until recently she had served me well and asides from a noisey transbox..
However. The 1lt let go on the freeway and I just cant see me taking on the project in terms of what she deserves..
As she stands she could be turned into an awesome comp ute.
Pre Engine Fail -
155k 1Lt LWB
All Stock, little to no rust at all, some metal spots showing around the roof/door trim.
Paint is fair for age, worn spots and a few bumps but very good for age.
Tray is in very good nick as well.
The other thing is that the 1lt is really hard to get a hold of now.. and the time and effort involved in doing a 1.3 or other conversion is a bit over my head.
I guess I could get a shop to-do it, but Suzishop here in Perth wanted 5k for the 1.3 conversion!! (way to much for me)
So my real question is I suppose is what would she be worth un-running??
Should I just put it on ebay??

how much are u after for it?
esp if buyer is local
Pity its not a 1.3 lwb tub already as i would be running to you with cash.
How much mech knowledge do u have or have access too?
as if christova can do the 1.3 conversion then you should be able too on the cheap.
Have u tried Suzukishop in cannington? as he is a lover of suzi's too.
1.3s out of swifts can be had for sfa and then u just need the 1.3 sierra bits to put onto it. i would have some of these already if u need (think i got a dizzy, angle drive and cam at home spare) u would need sump at least from what i know and gearbox (may have one also but would need seals put through (or about 500 bux for 2nd hand decent box local)

take it to a motor replacement shop. they should be able to do a rebuild on the 1ltr for less than $2k drive in drive out.
thats what it costs for a 1.3

hah - Yeh spoke the cannington shop, they had a running 1lt out of a van there but he wasnt sure on condition.. really If Im going to go through the arse ache of doing it all, I want to know she is going to last really.. the last engine was kept in fairly good nic, but blew!!
Umm regards the motor replacement shop, all i have tried/called laughed at the 1lt element and some said they wouldnt give me a re-con if mine was completely flogged..
Nb.. At 100kms she went bang, cue extreme noice like a bag of washers were thrown in the block, got her home and tried to check the first spark plug.. LOCKED HARD. tried 2nd, came out ok.. but metal shards in the base of it along with oil etc..
So fairly sure the pistons blew and chomped off the first plug.. or something!!
Mech knowledge..
Well me.. Zero.. my old man is a truck mech and my mums new fella is a rice burner specialist.. but try and get one of them two to give you a hand out of hours.. is impossible.. plus I only really have a grand or two to play with cash wise after being laid off from up north..
I have a new job now which i really need a ute/commecial but its a double edge sword.
Buy another bunky or save and sort this one out..
Augh very annoying..
Was offered a 1lt with 160k and gearbox for $1500 -
Dunno?? or is that a good price??
Probs comes accross like a whinge, but yeh its quite frustrating to know which way to go..
Re- How much I want.. well I dont know to be honest.. I DONT want to sell it but equally I really have no idea what she is worth, I do know that this model is very rare/looked for..
Coupled with the fact i was offered 3k for her not more than a month before she blew.. mind id of been gutted if it happened that soon after selling it..
Augh!

fix it. my opinion in its current shape it can't be worth more than $1000, 1200 tops. 1lt motors are land fill. you should be able to come accross one for next to nothing. if you were on this side of the desert you could have my maruti motor for bugger all. 94 model 80.000km but still worthless. surely you can find more creative ways to waste money than spend $1500 on a 1lt

Missed all this bit!!!
Mate Ill try and get my mum's bloke to have a look over your suggestions and try and get some help..
Waiting on my old boy to sell his house at the moment, other wise would of been moving on this a little earlier..
Time n Cash.. the sticking problem for all projects I suppose..
