Just been told by a mate looking to purchase a set of 15" steel rims that he was advised by salesman (don't know where or who) they will rub/touch the brake calipers....
06 GU Patrol, 3L Turbo Diesel.
Can this be done or is the salesman correct?

Some say no probs. Take one of your wheels off your GQ nad bolt to his and make up his own mind if the clearance on the caliper is enough.

Have a zook as a fill in till later this year when I get my hands on a GQ with a TD42 in good nick......
anyhoo, thanks for the link.
Looks like it may or may or may not. I'll just tell him to try

the issue is clearance on the caliper.
while at the shop, grab a rim, and bolt it on without a tire on it, you will see it piss easy if it will work or not.
vagina bout ya wheels gettin robbed..

Yes they will fit (except some of the cheaperrims that seem to rub on the caliper braket). The brakes on GU(Y61) have not changed in this series of vehicles except for the TB48

possibly have to go to cruiser offset? if its an offset issue not height being more than nissan to make sure.... 16's a safer option (confirmed they will fit) and look good and perform well and a happy medium when it comes to rubber pricing.....
the old 17's are not cheap thats for dam sure... make 16 rubber seem insanely cheap
Then if a tight does it potentially affect performance??? if nothing has changed in 5 yrs then no if so then maybe.

I had 15's on my GQ wagon and tried to see if they would go on my '05 ute and they definately touched the caliper .as bogged said take it to the shop and try it if you want to you may be lucky but doubt it.

We have fitted 15" rims to heaps of GU(Y61) Patrols right upto the current series VI without any dramas. It is only the cheaper rims that caused ony trouble , but rims like ROH TrakII give no problems
