G`day guys,

I`m making a set of rocksliders for my FJ40 and have noticed that some types of rocksliders have a "u" clamp type mount around the chassis rail... is that realy nessesary or will a flat plate bolted in 4 places on each mount with high tensile bolts suffice. as down the drivers side rail has soild fuel lines and soild brake lines which would have to be relocated if the "u" clamp type mount was to be used

cheers

You could slip the plate in between the chassis and brake/ fuel lines, for a u-clamp setup. It is only moving the the line out 6 to 10mm (depending on size of steel you use) and will not put undue stress on your pipes. I however spaced out the blocks that hold the brake lines to prevent chaffing.
