i currently own a Sahara 94 80 series auto on gas and its been an awsome car, but after 12yrs of ownership and virtually no dramas at all im looking to update to a 100 series Sahara,
does anyone know if they have the electric diff locks like the 80 series, also when did Toyota release the 5spd Auto in the 100s,
and is there any differance in the turbo diesal in the update model 2005 onwards or are they all the same in the 100s,
and are there any faults to look out for
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

You should ring up about one and ask the salesperson. I notice they aren't in the redbook code when we select them to advertise online tho, which would tends to mean they aren't availble but redbook do get it wrong from time to time. I'd say - LSD standard, locks optional - call a dealer to find out. If I had any in at the moment i'd look for you but don't often get Sahara's

Sahara has traction control, so no lockers.
Best to get a 5 speed model TD, they had the stronger front diff, and up to 05 had normal suspension, instead of AHC set up, though it can be modded and lifted as well.
150k km is a big service, abd ball joints are dear to do, so watch for those 2 things when buying.
Add a Safari High output kit, and economy will improve, and the torque is really impressive, best mod you can do to a 100.

My Sahara 80s has a whole differant switch for the diff locks than my mates GXL,his has centre diff locks written on his,and mine has RR/ FR RRtuff200 wrote:electric lockers are standard in 80 , 100 , 200 series even if it had traction control . and i was told early days it was an expensive option for any cruiser,
so was it a std item on all 80s or an option even on Saharas??
and is it now superseeded by traction control on Saharas and is that also an option??
Paul, I have an 06 Sahara and reckon it is great. It is a towing machine a bit of the time and I have to cater for that.
The mass of the rear bar with a wheel at times, drawers with fridge and tools in the back, recovery gear plus a draw bar weight applied over 200kg you need more carrying capacity than the AHC would normally allow.
I have boosted my rear end capacity with Firestone air suspension instead of the standard coils and Polyairs. Upgraded springs became the bane of our lives as they overpowered the shockers completely and you bounced at bumps which provided poor handling. I believe I have the best arrangement now with a capacity to make it very soft for articulation and grip. I have a tap between the two sides of the system so the stabilizer can do all the action side to side, and an air movement between the bags. Great for balancing.
The traction control works well over rocky and steep tracks, though I do switch it off from time to time. I haven't found a spot to stop it where live axle vehicles have been.
The standard sat nav is a shocker in comparison to third party ones, though the radio not bad. No external inputs, but the four stacker CD player isn't bad.
