my brother just picked up an 89 patrol
which come standard with a vacuum locker and it does the job great

is it possible to buy one for a sierra or are they only a factory locker

No.

It's a factory thing. For sierras, you need an airlocker, which instead of vacuum, uses compressed air to do the same job.

Maxi-drive build vacuum operated aftermarket lockers for landrovers. That's the only aftermarket locker that's been built IMHO.
