Can some one clear this up for me ?
If i do a structural change to a vehicle in QLD - get it engineered, and i move to NSW or SA in a few years time, does the vehicle have to be re-engineered and mod plated to suite that state ?
Has anyone done this ?

Not as far as I'm aware. One of my mates who was living in Queensland when he had a turbo fitted had to go and all recertified when he changed the rego back to NSW. I cant remember wether it was just a blue slip or an engineers certificate as well.
Cheers Mick.

As the rules stand at the moment..... A QLD engineers certificate/report is not valid in any other state.
Same goes for other states coming to Qld.
Qld has some of the toughest regs in the country so if you can get it approved here, getting it approved in another state shouldn't be too hard.

some engineers are recognised in other states.
I bought a car in vic with vic engineers and the the engineer was recognised in NSW so was no probs at all when i brought it up here.
Ring around a few engineers and sus it out. will help with resale too if the engineer is recognised in other states

Right o.
I'd hate to put the effort into something only to have to re- engineer it all again.
Just out of interest.. what is it roughly worth for an engineer to inspect a vehicle ?

Thats depends on what there engineering. It can be as little as $300 for a basic lift up to thousands for major mods.

actually.
if a vehicle is engineered fully in another state, and transferred to QLD, You simply need to send ALL your certificates and photos of the mods to QLD transport. This is provided all the mods meet QLD's mod requirements.
They will then approve it and send you back a letter of compliance. This letter must be carried with the vehicle, and presented whenever police/qld transport ask for it.

You have to check if the engineer is certified in the state your moving too. A mate bought a 304 GQ from Vic where it was engineered, back to SA. Because SA does not recongnise that particular engineer, the engineers report becomes worthless. may as well boiught an un-engineered one.
Lucky for us in SA, a 304 in a GQ does NOT need engineering, its a transport SA allowed conversion!
So therefore more often than not, engineer's reports do not transfer interstate. Thats why its a dumb idea to buy a modified car interstate.

I would guess then, that the engineer the guy used in VIC was not recognised by the NSW RTA.
