Polyair springs- anyone got them???

Was wondering if any Feroza owners have Polyair springs fitted? I notice they make a kit to suit the Feroza.

Don't they limit wheel travel ?? Feroza's don't have excessive wheel travel as it is....why limit it further ??
I thought they were only good for carrying heavy loads in the back

I fitted a set to the rear of my Rocky a few years back. Being leaf sprung, the set came with its own pair of dinky coil springs to retain the bags. First, the set didnt fit, and I had to make modifications to the Rocky to get it to fit, then, after one month, one bag shit itself, with a hole worn in one side, despite correct pressures being maintained (I went and bought a new, low pressure gauge specifically for this purpose) When the local supplier sent it back to the Qld supplier, the claim was rejected because "obviously the bag has been subjected to abuse from mud and dirt, which has worn a hole in the bag" ?????????????????
It happened to be that a couple of weeks later, I was in Brissie, so I tackled the Qld distributor directly. He maintained that stand. When I pointed out that it was under a 4wd, and they do tend to get a little dirty under there, it didnt matter. I then pointed out that his company could not even supply the correct kit, he relented, and gave me a new one. It shit itself after a couple of months. So the lot went into the bin. Worst couple of hundred bucks I've spent on the Rocky, after the shit Kumho tyres, that is. I'll never have them again.
Just my $22 worth. (Inflation + GST)

Besty- I imagine reduced rear wheel travel would be a side effect, the pressure can be reduced so I'm not sure how big a difference there would be? I'm interested in them for the improved load carrying (levelling) abilites. The camping trip at Easter with the roof pod and rear full resulted in the rear end only sitting about 1cm off the bumpstops! (And I've got the five leaf rear springs in mine- not the singles!)

dunno 'bout how they run in a 'roza, but a mate has poly's in the rear of his 80 series cruiser so he can have soft lifted springs and still take loads in the back and tow the trailer he built around the place (beasty 4x4ing trailer running on airbag suspension
)
anyways, when aired down the poly's don't limit travel at all, and when pumped up they keep the back end of the cruiser nice and level. he's had em for a while now, hasn't had any problems yet. he drives his 80 thru some pretty hard stuff, so it's not like they're only used on road

Stumped are 80 series coils or leafs in the rear end?
From what I've found so far everyone with coils reckons they're really good, but when they're used with leafs good reports are hard to find?

I think what the problem is is that the kits for use with leaf susp. have a small thickness coil spring that the bags sit inside of but when used in coil susp the coils are thick diam wire.
The thin diam wire rubs through the bags easier.

The thickness of the coils has nothing to do with it.
I have a kit available for sale - for a project that I started and then didn't complete.

and wheel travel isn't an issue as they simply function as an adjustable bump stop if installed the right way.

That almost sounds like Suzuki saying that their aluminium front dif-housings don't break/crack under normal loads... should've got a Daihatsu... now I've got a single-diffed GV...

Was looking at a 75s cruiser trayback the other day and say a set of black airbags. Didn't have location spring round them and i didn't catch the brand. The car is not too far from my work so will have a look and let ya know. As for how well they work no idea sorry

I made some enquiries about Polyairs for the (coil) rear of my Paj - wanted custom long soft springs for articulation when playing, and Polyairs to stiffen them up for road/loads.
I was warned that the bags have a habit of being punctured, from grit and gravel catching between the coil and the bag and wearing (exactly as Bundy described...) I thought about making canvas "socks" to go around the outside of the spring, but got lazy and bought OMEs instead.
If you put them in without changing your standard springs they will increase the stiffness of your suspension (even if only marginally at their lowest inflation pressure) and the extra stiffness will reduce your articulation.

I think the Polair's would be sorta self defeting on a 4WD because when they get pumped up to raise the ride height they would make the suspension and ride much harder. Need that whell travel.
