75series leaf packs

g'day all! Im looking to get better flex out of my 75 without going to big lifts or cutting and moving mount points! so i was thinking today of getting some soft spring packs and running something like the tuff dog adjustable shocks! Now if i go to something like a 3 to 4inch lift springs. With the weight of the vehical on them they should come back down to around 2inch! So is there any mobs that do good packs for 75series? or will i have to go to somewhere like superior engineering to get some made up? Tell me what are your throughts on this!

lighten your stock leaf packs and get longer mains.
be carefull where you ad the length tho

Yer i was thinking of going around to place up here that reset springs, and get him to lengthen my mains and take a few leaves out! i want to get the flex of 3 to 4inch but with the hight of a 2inch! And hopefully with with the softer springs she will be abit better for those long trips!

yeah but you'll prob increase bodyroll... maybe disconnectable swaybar..

wouldnt i only be getting as much body roll as you would out of a 2inch lift? I will keep sway bar on!

softer springs=more bodyroll

like most things you will have to compromise, softer springs + taller ride hight will give you lots more flex but more bodyroll and less stable on side slopes.

you will need longer shocks too.

Listen to Mule75, his truck flex's unreal and rides softer than alot of coil sprung trucks

Start with something like a 2'' spring, with 2'' extended shackles and lengthened main and wrap leaves. This will give you resonable height and good flex without being over the top.

I have 2'' lifted 60 series rear springs in the front of my middy with 2'' shackles. In the rear I have high flex EFS 60 series rear springs. My total lift is about 2'' front and 3'' rear which levels out well under load. I get very good flex in the front and decent in the rear. I could get heaps better in the rear but tyre clearance is what stops me. The tyres rub on the chassis and inner guard. Unless you have high offset rims what your trying to achieve will be limited by rubbing.

In my current setup the front shocks are about 2'' to short, probably get about 3'' more droop with correct shocks

I was thinking for 2inch spring with 2inch shackels but the shackels limit your up travel! Correct me if im wrong! Also if i use something like the tuff dog adjustable shockes can i harden them up to suit the on road driving that i am doing?

hey mate i wouldnt be to worried about a sway bar to much just my own apinion i had a 75 2in spring 2in body with 2 in shackels and 35s mtz and i throw mine away after that loved to flex got to watch the drifting in the mud a bit but i never had a problem and i use to use alot of right foot ;) and i took the 2 biggest packes out of my leafs still could hold a 250kg quad no prob...

well the plan is to keep it at 2inch high but have the mains out of a 4inch lift! just have them soft enough so they sag down 2inch with all the weight on them! Plan on doing a body lift down the track! but not at the moment! Is there any mobs out there that do good soft leaf packs for 75series?

If you have the correct suspension geometry a 2'' extended shackle will not limit up travel. I run 2'' shackles and have excellent uptravel, guards are chopped and raised 2'' and I can tuck a 33'' right up and touch the top easily with more travel to come if I had room.

Just be carefull in regard to removing leaves, you still need enough integrity in the leaf to hold the car up and control axel wrap. I toasted two sets of rear leaves by running the wrong leaves in the back and not having the clams on. First pair was a 8 leaf pack down to 5, turned both springs into an S shapre and snapped one main, second set were ARB 2'' packs with the bottom leaf removed and clamps undone, now also S shaped.

I've settled on a EFS high flex 2-3'' spring with 9 leaves. Flexes well and holds up to the abuse it gets.

I will be getting all the work done on the springs by a bloke whom only does suspension work and resetting leaf springs! So i he should know what needs to be done! And if he recommands extended shacks i will go that way as well!

hey mate next shackels i get to are goin to be from superior a engineering have alook at these u can get these front and back to http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/p ... ts_id=2254 and this is a photo of wat they do http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/g ... ure&id=268

2 inch lift an 33s will have the back scrubbing on the inner guard, so 35s are out of the question ......you can come and have a look at my scrub marks if you want and i am running a fairly stiff ass end on a troopy ....

to add to that you can lift it all you want its the clearance between tyre and inner guard, chassis thats the problem .....you have to go wider in the wheel track to make bigger ie 35s fit a 75 and flex as you want ... theres no easy and cheap way to do that on a 75 thats legal and safe the troopy scrubs guards and the cab chas scrubs chassis if the lift is high enough ....a
wider wheel track involves offset rims or spacers neither of which are a good thing because of the pressure on the bearings ...dont pull leaves out of the pack as suggested above a 75 is a heavy truck and youll end up with rooted springs very fast....my advice put a rear locker in it and youll be surprised how far it will go....

oh yer i know 35s will scrub! i scrub in the rear with 285x75x16s! the only 35's i would put under are simex centipedes! just becuase they are skinny! well not skinny skinny but skinier then others! Not a big fan of the drops shackels though! I next time im in brissy i might go around and have a chat with the blokes at superiorengineering! Its just a pitty TJM dont do a good size lift with out going heavier in the springs!

9 leaves on a middy in my opinion would be ok i have 9s in the rear of a troopy 2 inches over and i think their stiff and they have allready sagged a bit

Don't be worried about removing sway bars, the very early model 75's like mine did not come with sway bars from the factory and handles fine.

My SOA 75 has no sway bars and its solid as lol

Can i ask why, higher lift leaf packs give more flex over a low lift spring.. when a arched spring is going to be harder to compress or droop.... if the car has 2 inchs of lift a correctly setup shock/spring combo will be more stable and have just as much/more articulation than a truck skyhigh asking to fall over.

Imo a truck with 2 inch lift and bump stops to limit compression, shocks setup accordingly and the rest of shock travel in droop is safer, better and cheaper.

reset springs for more lift reduce shackle angle = reducing droop.

Extended shackles are only good for longer leaf packs to bring shackle angle back to somewhere near 45 degrees.

A simple trac bar would have stopped your springs from turning S's, wheather the truck is heavy or not the leafs have a spring rate to match, if the springs are S'd quickly to many leaves were taken out and they've been axle wrapping from no clamps and more importantly no trac bar if the truck has a bit of weight on it during the week and nothing when you go out and play of course there going to be shagged, everything in suspension is a compromise.

Clamps are there to help stop the wrap, springs won't be the only thing you wreck if its wrapping that bad that your going through springs like their going out of fashion.
