The local Auto Shop has a single spotlight at a good clearence price.

I have a set of lights on the Patrol already. I vaguely remeber reading that it is illegal to have an uneven number of lights??????? Is this right? Something about being semetrical on left and right side of the vehicle??

Can anyone clarify this, or is it ok to install an extra light?

My understanding is the same as yours - even number of lights, symmetrical about the centreline, used to be 600mm apart minimum? I think the separation may no longer apply.

Tis true, but if you get pulled over for the sole reason of having 3 lights across the bullbar of your patrol.... I'll pay the fine myself.

Police have better things to do, just dont go highbeaming them in the burbs.

Use it as a Reverse light?

But yes, symmetrical as per http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonl ... /VSI10.pdf page 12 :)

Deal!

Thanks for clarifying. No need to get 'extra attention'. ;) It would only be used for night runs. If it was on a separate switch, it would probably be 'more legal' too - ie, run independently to exixting ligts.

extra switch or no, just make sure its only operable when the highbeams are on. Thats the main thing they check during department of transport roadside inspections (if you are unlucky enough).
