doing springover on a 60 series project and just trying to nut out the front drivers side setup has anyone got pics of how they did theirs looked it up through search and couldnt find any good pics if how it was done.
cant use the original square u bolts as the diff has been rotated a bit to allow for the increased angle in the pinion( knuckle rotation to come)
BTW doing u bolt flip while im at it

Firstly, why bother. No extra travel and very very top heavy = roll. Its just for looks. Just get your spring's lengthened and retensioned and do a shackle reversal with longer greasable shackles. Makes for awsome travel in the front with no inverted shackles. 60 series have good travel both front and rear. Use it.

Bother because;

1st and foremost, he wants to. itd be pretty boring if we all drove snake racing 6 inch kitted GQ's.
You can use as soft a spring as you like, you dont have to try to get any lift out of them = alot more flex and better ride.
Plenty of lift, if you tried to lift an SUA that high you might as well kiss your back goodbye, 0 comfort and 0 flex.
Clearance for bigger tyres with out mangling the body too much.
Im sure there are plenty more positives.

there is a hell of a lot of people out there with sprung over 60's. im pretty sure they didnt all roll them or do it for looks

a sprung over 60 is, im sure, alot of work, but set up right they are an absolute weapon.

sorry hiluxmad no info for you, i just hate when people bag what others are doing just because they seem to think they know better.

Thank you....
yes it is because i want to most of the leaves will be dropped and possibly air bags in the rear.
this is not just a spring over in an otherwise standard 60 it is an extra cab ute chop and lexus v8 install at the same time.
i wanted to stay away from lifted shackles body lifts etc as i have done all this before on other vehicles and wanted to do something entirely different from what i have done before.

Yeh big red is right, my 60 has 4" springs, 2" body, 2" shackles and 35" claws, its rough as guts on the road and dont flex real well, from what im led to believe flatter springs (less leaves does the trick) and spring reversal gives us awesome flex, but is yet to come, make sure you do the cut and turn on the knuckles before you go driving down the road or with the pinion angle fixed, you will find your truck stepping sideways like a grader!!

I rolled mine the other week but the cause of that was bugger all flex and me pushing the limits.
Check out my build if ya got a spare min u might like it.
Its still underway but its on the road.

I redid my suspension 4 times on my 75 series. And we did a spring over on my mates 60 series. He rolled it. You run the risk of snapping your main millitary leaf if you remove some. They have to stay in their packs for strength. Sure its softer but thats the risk you run. Thats not how you get better travel or lift. I had all the guys at carrolls springs helping me. And lift and travel + smoothness was what I was after. Here is a pic of the first day I got it (the first time I did it). Even while the springs wherent run in or settled.

Ended up with 5" lift and 2" body lift. Was a nice height.

But what I finally ended up with was the best set up... I had fabricated some brackets that bolt up around your bullbar mounts and where angled backwards incase you had to scrap up something. For a shackle reversal. It also made the new mounting point of the spring 50mm lower than the original = 50mm extra lift. I had the leaves lengthened an extra 90mm (which intern I had to get all my leafs lengthed for strength). And the new bolt hole that locates the diff forward an extra 100mm to allow for the wheel coming backwards as it lifts and tucks. And the correct size longer greasable shackles. Heaps of lift.... 7"-8" >tones of travel... stable as and smooth as a baby's bum. Nomore crashing into bumps as the tyre wants to unnaturally move forward as it lifts towards the object. It was pretty compairable to coils. Ill keep looking for some better pics of my finished conversion.

i snapted the main leaf in my 60 and that was a full pack (7 leafs ) so to me it makes no differentes if you have a full pack or you have leafs taken out

Snapted lol.. I have seen a fair few snap aswell. There is a fair bit in it. Go see the guys who make the leaf spring packs. Im just repeating what they have said. You can also go more leafs but thinner thickness's and that gives you more travel aswell. Its hard to improve your tuck. But if you going to do a leaf over conversion. The angle of the shackles is critical for a soft ride and travel. So instead of removing leafs. Get some longer ones and the correct size propper shackles. That will give you way more drop and your tuck will be the same.

Nomatter what get rid of those dodgy stock 80mm shackles. Nowonder its ridding rough.

do it! im thinking bout doin the same, ull have to lower ur bump stop to stop breaking spring packs, if u dont bend so much that it curves the other way they wont break and make sure the distance between the end of each leaf isnt too long
