hey guys anyone ever have any trouble getting a 91 pajero out of 4x? I can select 2x but the thing stays in 4x ......even after turning off I have to go in reverse and be a bit rough with it before it will disengage any help would be appreciated.

Are you refering to the dash lights indicating you are still in 4x4 but the lever is in 2wd ??
Remember the super select is still a mechanical t/case and wherever the t/case lever is that is what range you are in. If the lights on the dash say otherwise there is most likely an electrical/vacuum issue.
This problem has also been well covered in prior threads you can check out.

have that problem with my 93 Jabber. Rang Mitsubishi, and thats normal apparently. Just have to either put it in reverse and back to neutral, or roll foward and put it in neutral. Found the second one works best.
A whole lot of swearing goes a long way when in doubt.

You will probably find your linkages are broken somewhere and not engaging back into 2wd.
Solution is to get under your truck have a good look moving around the selctor and work out if its all working. You will probably find that a linkage aint engaging properly for some reason and fix what is wrong with it. My mate just chucked some washers in mine to fix up part of a broken linkage to get it to its original height and it goes in and out of low range with no problems
