hey just asking if 15" rims will fit on a 96 gxl 80 series?

No they will not, unless of course you are handy with a grinder. The earlier Fj80's etc 1990-92 will fit 15's no problem.

Any reason for wanting to fit 15's?

if you got big offset rims, they will fit the front with no mods, but on the back you will have to grind the calipers just a little.

i have 15"s on my 92 they fit fine. what has changed in the later models?

post 93 have bigger rotors, etc

You can use/fit the brakes from the earlier 80's, only a bolt on job. then you will be able to run 15'' rims on the rear.
I hit this problem when i tried to use my rims from my old 80 series, they scraped on the rear calipers.

I dont know why you would want to put on smaller brakes

I know guys that have ground a small amount off their calipers to fit 15" rims on their 80s'. I'm unsure of the year models though.

So far the only safe and legal option here is fitting the early model rear calipers and back plates.

Grinding calipers is a big no no, consider what you are fiddling with!

late 92 had the 1fz motor update this is where the brakes changed over and 16 inch rims
