Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hi all. im on the hunt for new tyres. been asking ard for opinions in regards to the bfgs AT or coopers ST.

1. any feedback on them ?

anyway... a dealer is offering both the 33" and 35" bfg AT for $300 ea. m tempted to get the 35" but just a lill worried abt driving em around for the long haul drives in the outback for 5 months. the fuel prices goona burn the pocket out.

2. will bigger tyres consume more fuel over longer drives ?

3. will bigger tyres be an advantage for height clearance off road?

1) do a search there is so many discussions on these two tyres.

2) yes it does tend to increase your fuel consumption a bit, but most people dont take into account that a 35 compared to a 33 effects the distance you travel per revolution of the wheel by 7%. which would in turn make your fuel consumption look 7% worse than it really is when you calculate it. if you car came with 31's stock then it will 'appear' 14 % worse than actual figures.

3) yes, obviously every 2 inches you gain in tyre size, you gain 1 inch of diff and vehicle height. it also makes it easier to roll up obsticals.

but

will you car take 35's without serious modifications??? will it even take 33's?
will your axles/cvs deal with the increased load with the bigger tyres? can you change one on the side of the road out west? do you have spares to carry?

what are you driving?

just read your sig so you currently have 35's how does it currently drive on 35's - that is the best answer you will get.
