Hey Guys, just joined up today and already got a question for ya. I've been looking for a good sierra for a few weeks now, and have found two. One is a stock 92 model the other is a 82 model with a 1600 motor in it and a few other mods. The 92 is $4000, and the 82 is $2900. I mainly want to use it for beach work as I live near Fraser Island and was wondering what one you thought would be better to get. The main concern I have is that the 82 is only a 4 spd and I'm thinking a 5 spd would be better for the beach driving. Any opionions would be appreciated.

I wouldn't have thought u'd really have a call for 5th gear on a patrolled beach anyway, but the advantage of a 5-speed would be that the ratios are a bit closer together anyway I guess..
I'd go the '92, unless the 1600 was a 4A-GE or something funky like that, but even then, u may have to take into account the type of driving you'll be doing, and the revs that the twin cam (if that's what it is) needs to develop power, ie; 4000rpm+....

It is a 1600 nissan motor, not sure of the exact model though(will find out on weekend) but by the way the guy selling it is talking both the car and the motor need a bit of work done to them, so I'm kinda swaying to the 92 model..

Go the 92, think about the age difference overall, everything is 10 years newer! (diffs/box engine etc) Body for signs of rust?
