Rebuilding the 12 ht will cost alot more than I can afford for the moment I am planning on putting the 1HZ into it for the moment and slowly rebuilding the 12 HT as i can afford it.

engine mounts different, cut/weld
exhaust opposite side of engine
air+fuel opposite side.
Radiator inlet is wrong (i think?)
Alot of work to change to 1HZ. Would not go to the effort if you plan on changine back.
Fiund a cheap 2H to drop in there to get you through. It is all bolt in. Grab the engine pipe aswell (first section of exhaust) and this will bolt up to the rest of your exhaust aswell.

Yep like shadow said the 2H would be the best option if ya plan on refitting the 12HT

you should do the 1hz conversion. that makes way for a 1hd-ft later on. that will blow the pants off a crappy old 12ht.

I wouldent go calling the 12HT a crappy old motor then saying the 1HD-FT would blow its pants off they are both good engins and both respond well to mods tho the 12HT has more than proven its self as a long term reliable unit were as some 1HD-FT's are now showing some problems my old mans is one of them

12HT is 100kw
1HDFT is 125kW
1HZ is 93kw(i think)
2H is 75kw (hoorah!)
the 1HDFT is ultimately a more capable engine, but it wont blow the pants off a 12HT.

add an E to the end (1HDFTE and it will) 151 kw
but seriously they are all good engines the factory turbo toyotas
all have some problems but not many or very often
i go with the get a cheap 2h till the 12ht is fixed then you could sell it after basically for what you paid will be quick and easy with no fab work

I almost feel sorry for you - going from a 12ht down to a 2h. I hope you're a paitent man
But I guess once you get the 12ht back in it will be all the more worth it.
