Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Im in need of a thread tap that will be the same thread as a tyre valve.

what I've got is a compression tester, but none of the adapters will fit my glow plug hole, or injector hole without modification. I've modified one of the adapters to fit it now but need to cut a new thread into it that a tyre valve will screw into as per the original one did.

Soo, can someone tell me what size thread this is or where I can source a tap to suit... would be great!!

UNEF for unified extra fine

7.25 mm drill hole for tapping but 7mm would do?

So what I'm asking for is when I go to buy/order this tap is "5/16 unf 32" or "5/16 unef 32"

Sorry but I'm not too clued up on these differences.

either am i.the EF is just for extra fine which 32 TPI(threads per inch) comes under.so i would ask for a 5/16 UNEF tap 32 TPI shouldnt go wrong there i hope.

i work in a fastener store, and have a fair few years of experience behind me now.. you won't get that tap off the shelf anywhere, i would in fact imagine that most places will look at you funny if you ask them for one. i've just had a look in one of my supplpier catalogues however, Goliath Threading Tools do make one. Be prepared for a bit of a shock when you price one up though...

Take a spare valve stem to pirtek or enzed or similar and get them to match it for you, they may even be able to cut the thread for you for a lot less than the cost of an unusual tap size

The other thing to be aware of is that if your compression tester is to suit petrol engines you might end up going off the dial with the extra compression on a diesel.

deisel compression will be like 280-500psi. Want to be a good comp tester.

A good valve tool has a thread repairer on it, for both the inside of the valve and the outside for the cap. It probly wont cut a new thread but you could use it to match a tap.

OK thats the sorta answer I was after... I sorta new it'd be an order in type one... but what sort of $$ am I roughly up for???

Wouldn't by any chance have the Goliath part no for this tap???

Nah, no stress it's a proper diesel compression tester up to 700psi I think form memory.

Trade price in my system is about $40 for one, a little less than i was expecting in fact.

Goliath part numbers are B12XDA4, B12XDB4, and B12XDC4 for tapered, intermediate and bottoming taps respectively.
