2LTE Coolant Leak

Got a funny coolant leak from my 2LTE motor. Had the radiator replaced and a through flush last week. Next morning I noticed a small colant leak on the carport floor. Took it back and the guys at Gladstone Radiators couldn't find any leak. Held 20 PSI pressure for over 20 mins. Looks like it only leaks when the engine is cold.

On the advice of a local spare parts guy I replaced the water pump yesterday. A relaxed 5 hour job and took it for a good run to test it. No problems however this morning when cool the leak has returned.

The cooling system stays full indicating the radiator cap and refilll system is working. After hours of looking with a torch the best I can see is the leak looks like it is coming from behind the injector pump.

Any Idea's  Thanks.

directly behind the injection pump is a plug on the engine block that taps in to the cooling jacket; if the radiator blokes used this plug to flush the block (they should have!) then they may not have done it up properly, or with a bit of grit in the thread or whatever - pull the plug out (14mm socket I think), clean the threads and refit the plug with some teflon tape or paste on the threads.

hope that sorts out your leak.

good luck

Checked all the simple things first? thermo housing, temp sender in thermo housing, there is also a block drain bolt behind the injector pump. This is brass, and is the lowest part of the cooling system. They would have removed this to drain the system properly. A bit of ptfe tape on the thread will seal him up, but will need to fully drain the system.

Ding's (Thats what I call my Surf after it got caught in a hailstorm) been at Gladstone Radiators for 2 days now and we can't find where this leak is coming from.

Been pressure tested hot & cold, used mirrors, torch's and bent ourselves into all sorts of angles and positions. :?

I've got a feeling it will just go away, I hope.

Keep you informed.
