i have a 1995 feroza cxi which i dont seem to see many around

Yes, there is a huge amount of difference between the models in the terms of standard features and track width between the F300 and F310 variants.

The cheapest models were narrow tracks with vinyl interiors, no power steering, no rear wiper, no door arm rests, no electric window/ mirrors etc.

Then the top of the range had velour, full electrics, remote boot release, LSD's etc etc.

And everything in between, both mechanically and trim wise. wide/ narrow, power steer / no power steer, EFI / carb, solid disks / ventilated disks, springs, shocks, manual / auto, air con / no air con

DaiAuto even brought in som imports before the rules changed that were a further step up Recaro seats etc etc.

Mechanically there wer variation as well, apart from what we got normally here - there's a full time 4WD model in Japan with no low range
and if another wrecker can be believed a 2wd model was sold in Asia.

Bout the oly thing that didn't change was the thing the SHOULD HAVE changed... the #$%@ engine.

So heres the answer - to do what ?

And I'm not picking - it all depends on what your going to do with it.

E.G. Vinyl trim is good if its going to get absolutely filthy. Electric windows are great if its a town car, but fill the doors with water and they aren't such a good idea.

One area I'm pretty definate about however is that an auto is going to be more capable off road than a manual - especially if you up the tyre size with the feroza's lousy low range.

There is the same model FullTime without low range in Europe - you can not get feroza with low range after my1995 - all are just fulltime with LSD in the back diff (30%).

One thing I noticed when looking around for mine was that there often wasn't a lot of difference in prices asked for the "pov" spec Ferozas compared to the fully kitted versions.

I'd go for a wide track at a minimum, and then get whatever trim level you're comfortable with.

Go the Widetrack SXII with all the goodies. Air, steer, windows, CD, alarm/immobiliser, electric mirrors, factory tinted windows, carpet, and velour trim (but use seat covers to protect the front seats)

If you going to leave it stock then agree a widetracks the way. However wide and narrow use the same front suspension components so there's no differnence in travel ( ( the widetrack chassis is belled out at the front ).

This means that a narrow track can have longer arms fitted and get more front travel - a real plus if you actually go off road. This isn't feasible with a widetrack.

So its back to the same question - for what ? As 95% of Feroza's never do any off roading at all, a widetrack with the lot is cool if you want a 4WD to drive on the road ( why ? ).

The few that go off road infrequently, probably don't care - trim is more important

The tiny minority that actually want to or do serious stuff ( obviously have some form of mental problem..... ) a widened narrow is the way to go.

but its good in a way, because i have less things to go wrong
does any body have a picture of a ferozas torsion bars
not to sure if mine have been wound up yet or not

No Pic necseeary - if the front suspension lower control arms are at or near parallel to the ground then its stock. Exact info in service manual

I know i'm digging up a year old thread now, but could someone please expand on this and tell me some or all of the differences between Fez 1 and Fez 2s? I got a Fez 1 narrow track the other day for a shooter, but the only local parts Fez is Fez 2.
I need a canopy, cos i have a soft top and replacements are expensive, i can get a canopy for $250, but then I think it will get exy replacing the rear door with a glassed one etc.
Also, how much better, if any, is the twin cam engine over the single cam?

Roof will (I believe) fit any model.

The only twin cam model was the Detomasso engined one. I don't think they were sold here in Oz.

Detom is a SOHC...... and as far as i know was never a Feroza fittment ( been wrong before so..... ) However its the same HD engine so it bolts right in. Mouse currently has one.... but being honest for a 4WD the Detomaso really doesn't add much except a few more kW's at the top end which isn't where i really need it.

It is up high on top of another car at the wrecker, so hard to see, but the sticker on the side said "Twin Cam 16 valve". It was a wide body Fez 2. Thanks for the tip on the canopy swapping.

" 16-valve EFI " is what they say on the lower doors

(And I've seen it in two different font/text styles)
