I've just bougth a GU ute 2002 St plus limited adition (whatever that means).Couple nights ago we went for a bit of a cruise through our local tracks. The truck is prety much stock, but man these nissan limited slip diffs on the back are a little gem,all you had to do was get the nose over those rocks and the rest of the truck had no problem, even with fearly bold stock tyres she was a beauty.
But just towards the end she just did'nt want to rev past 2000 rpm.The bloke who had it before me was a bit bussy lately,so he only did an oil change on it.I noticed that the air filter was a bit dirty, and the fuel filter was also,so I changed them but she still want rev past 2k.
I appeal to you knowlegable nissen owners to give a bit of advice. Is it serious or is it just something simple? Please help

It may have a filter at the inlet of the injection pump. Remove the 17mm bolt, if there is a spring under the bolt, there is a filter further down.

Thanx for your reply Andy,do you think that if it has a filter at the inlet of the injection pump that it might be blocked?

It'll be the gauze filter for sure on the inlet side of the pump, seen them so blocked they won't rev past 900rpm.

Very easy too do. 17mm socket with long extension, 3/8 drive is best. removes banjo bolt and swing fuel pipe out of the way, make sure u don't loose the copper washers. With a pick or a peace of wire remove the spring then the gauze filter, clean it out and put it back in. When re assembles make sure copper washers don't leak.

I would consider removing the tank, and flushing it totally.. take a couple of hours to do, but well worth it to stop it happening again

Sub (front) tank does, 12mm socket or spanner is needed.

Apperently these filters block if using cheaper fuel filters, Ryco included.
The Nissan filters filter to 4 micron as this is what the Zexel pumps require.
The Delphi also is rated at 4 micron and alot cheaper than the Nissan filters.

Use genuine filters or bosch. Dont use those cheap nippon max filters they fill the gauz filters with filter paper fragments
