Hi guys, just got a snorkel off ebay and wanna put it on this weekend. Its a bit rough, its a factory nissan one for a GU thats been modded to fit on a GQ. I was just wondering if there are any templetes etc floating around out there so i can get it done right first go.
also, whats the best way to fit them? do i have to remove the inner guard? and whats the best way to make that huge hole? (normal drill for the 3 other bolts id say
any help/info would be appreciated.

Mark the hole you want to make.
Mark and lightly punch a couple of test holes close to the centre so you can see how hard to hit it without damaging the panel (an automatic centre punch would probably be the best bet if you can get a hold of one)
Make sure you use a sharp drill bit so it doesn't wander when you're starting your holes.
Mark and drill lots of small holes around the inside of your line. File to get it to size with a half round file.
Make sure you paint the edges of the hole when you're done so you don't get rust developing.
Template might be a bit hard to come by, especially considering the snorkel has been modified.

Thanks for the info/help Krusty. Iam not too worried about the hole, my truck has a sheit load of rust in it atm already. :/
well, thanks, oh and what about the securing bracket that in the front window support? just drill a hole and put those plugs in? or is there a special way of doing it there?
thanks

well firetruck me, once again, id recon if someone is asking you a hunge to install one of these snorkel things, just pay the hunge...
man.. talk about chomping up the guard!
But all in all, its going ahead slowly, bloody thick steel you gotta drill through. and 3 sections of it too... nearly worn out my cordless drill

i'm about to do mine to my MK shorty, I made my snorkel out of 90mm PVC and I am going to use a 92mm holesaw to bring it thru the guard, cant get much easier than that

Yeah mate, go the hole saw! Dont do what i did, and drill the pattern out. Talk about rough as guts. I would have taken a few shots while doing it, but dont want to remeber it as it was really fucked up man! Ill never do that again.
all thats left to do now is the inner piping and the attachment to the window rail. (ive already got 2 holes drilled there, just need to get 2 plugs)
its in there bloody solidly though, but yeah, took a lot of stuffing around.
Pay some poor bastard to do it for ya, i would next time around fer sure!
