Wanna give some more info, like what sort of 4wd, whether it is new, second hand, what you are going to be doing, how far you are going etc?

id just get used to the new truck a bit first, do some easier trakcs first and normal daily use as well until you know it doesnt run hot or have any other issues which could leave you stranded out in the middle of no where.

then of course the usual fluids, get your grease gun out and do your drive shafts etc as they might not have been done in years. make sure its had an oil change etc etc.

then try to wheel with other cars at least for the first few trips so they can save your butt when you think its a hilus it will go up that for sure...

good to hear you got it

drop EVERY oil in it- $200 worth of oils are a lot easier on the hip pocket than $1200 for a gearbox, $500 for a diff etc if they are contaminated or ancient.

grease anything with a nipple (Better half excluded) to make sure.

Remember- its a yota LSD, so your essentially a dual open differ :D

Before you hit the beach spray some of that liqiud lanolin all over the undercarriage of your car, works great, you can get it from repco, supercheap etc. stores. The only crap thing is sand sticks all over it and thats a prick to wash off, but still better than rust.

yeah i've heard that lanolin is a bit stick won't be doin that much beach driving though mainly just after a wax or a spray that drries hard sorta thing that will just give me that bit of extra piece of mind that i'll be fine if i come across a some sand or salt water .

Whats been said,
and fit some diff breathers with extensions up high. Top of the firewall should be plenty high enough for a Hilux unless you intend on particularly deep crossings, or doing a Jeremy Clarkson...
