Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all, just wanting some tips or pointers with body lifting a twin cab hilux sr5 tub back 2.7 petrol wanting to do 3 inch body lift need to know what needs to be done like do the brake line or sterring need to be modified, and should i use solid blocks or something like nolathane. thank all did try and do a search but can't realy work it out cheers

I wouldn't go above 2" in the body.

It's impossible to be sure for every vehicle but for hiluxs, surfs, 4runners, generally they have needed some or all of the following for a 2" bodylift:

- radiator drop brackets if you decide you want to keep the radiator shroud and a nicer angle on the top hose (which is recommended)
- check your air intake hose doesn't stretch to split (needed to keep an eye on it with my diesel 4runner but your 3rz setup may be different)
- firewall modified where the steering shaft goes thru. You may need to remove the grommet and even grind out the bottom of the hole like I had to as the shaft was binding and making the steering tight. Might need extension too.
- make sure your brake line coils in your front lines don't bind when the body is lifted.
- clutch flexible fluid line will get very tight
- gear lever will need extending by cutting and welding extension in (this is the better option than cutting the cabin floor or rubber insulation boots) but is trickier as you need to keep exactly the same angle so that your hand doesn't smash thru the radio when you try and get first gear
- barwork needs modifying. Brackets can be done ok for the bullbar but the towbar is a lot more work and should be done professionally if you use it regularly for towing heavy loads

i have got a 2" body lift to do i have got the bolts and polyurathane blocks was just wondering what else needs to be done to put it in thanks heaps mate


yeh 3" body lift is a fair bit with not much gain unless you are going to put some massive tyres on there, if you arn't it is going to look out of place.
