Have an ln65 lux , want to do the ifs spring conversion in the rear and i am just wondering on the 65 are the springs the same front and rear , front springs are sagged as and rear are really good , i was thinking rear to front and ifs in the rear with longer shackles i assume you wouldnt be able to hook it up to the springs temporarily with the std length shackles... can the ifs springs be put in the front also.. just qurious i did try search but its fairly primative and i cant find much to do with it. thankyou

Rear springs in the front will move the diff forward about 3", and you may need to do high steer or cross over steering.

So the springs are different front and rear.

I have just put the rears in the front of mine, and you will need extended shackles or banana shackles.

Think the IFS rears in the front will be a bit too long unles you go cutting up the chassis/

IFS rears will require longer shackles or moving of the shackle hangers or both. Some poeple run a 200mm shackle and keep the mounts stock or run a shorter shackle and move mounts back. I used a 150mm shackle and moved mounts back 25mm.

RUF will optimally require high steer, extended shackles and a dropped front hanger. But can be done with a few mods to the stock steering and torque rod.

IFS RUF would require more work. The springs are way longer and would require front hanger pushed forward and shackle mounts moved back. Not worth it or necessary in my opinion, just stick with standard rears - keep the top three leafs and add a few from the old front pack as required.

Do a bit of research, check out pirate4x4 and find out what suits your needs and skills.

im doing ruf but not going the whole hog of hight steer.

i only want to shift the diff forward about an inch, this can be dont by using a different spring locator hole on the lhs ands drilling a new one on the rhs. need an adjustable torque rod and drag link or shorter ones.this is the more basic way, but not as good.

I have moved my diff forward on lifted front springs with an adjustable dropped drag link and torque rod and think it was a waste of money. I should have spent the extra and went to high steer or crossover straight away. I don’t see the point in RUF without changing the steering as I’ve got enough flex out of my front that it binds up and Ruf would only be worse. If you do it right the first time you will save yourself a lot of money in the long run.

Here is a good thread that Chris had going when he did his IFS rears. It’s got the part number for the fixed end bushes you will need. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic135 ... =ifs+rears

my aim is not a huge amount more flex than i already have, more to stop my wheels rubbing on the fire wall. and i had the rest of the gear already, so it should be ok

Why do you need a dropped front hanger......................

Not absolutely necessary, but when adding high steer dropped hanger will help with clearance of pitman arm. Also helps to correct bad pinion angles when using extended shackles.

Have you done RUF on yours yet. If so how have you gone with clearance between the draglink and U bolt? Just thinking with the extra leafs in a RUF pack it would be close.

we shall see I guess, this is a significant consideration and it will take a few attempts and playing about, but i have about 4 sets of springs which i can play with. i have built my first attempt but not yet fitted them, My car currently doesnt have the flat bolt so i will change that, and my first selection of springs is a little tthinner than the current springs in there. so at this stage i will have 10mm more clearance than currently.

the steering set up in hiluxs is almost enough to make me buy a patrol
