This would be a much better option, sure they aren't as powerful as the Patrol version, but simply intercool and up the boost with the standard wastegate Turbo and your off,mud4b wrote:unless your talking about a navara zd30...? im not sure why gu people are not buying these engines to replace their gu zd30..?
oh for those that want to know, navara's have a solid flywheel, i don't care what you have been told, i just pulled my gearbox out and the engine out of the wreck and they were both solid.. 02 model dx and 05 model st-r.
cheers mark.
It wouldn't be any better then the patrol engine. the ONLY reason they don't blow up AS MUCH in navs is because they are less stressed with less power in a lighter vehicle.MyGQ wrote:This would be a much better option, sure they aren't as powerful as the Patrol version, but simply intercool and up the boost with the standard wastegate Turbo and your off,mud4b wrote:unless your talking about a navara zd30...? im not sure why gu people are not buying these engines to replace their gu zd30..?

can't be that hard to swap over
Wrong. the navara zd30's do not have a MAF, no variable vein turbo and the have a coating on the pistons. They are not that much under powered than a patrol zd30 , although i do agree they are a little lighter than a gu but not that much..brad-chevlux wrote:It wouldn't be any better then the patrol engine. the ONLY reason they don't blow up AS MUCH in navs is because they are less stressed with less power in a lighter vehicle.MyGQ wrote:This would be a much better option, sure they aren't as powerful as the Patrol version, but simply intercool and up the boost with the standard wastegate Turbo and your off,mud4b wrote:unless your talking about a navara zd30...? im not sure why gu people are not buying these engines to replace their gu zd30..?

up the boost and put it in a patrol and BOOOOOMMMMMMM there goes your nav engine.
most blow up ~70,000-120,000klms...esp22 wrote:how much kms should i expect out of a 2003 GU III ST 5 speed manual 3.0 lt turbo diesel before i need a rebuild?Any other problem that ma come up
what bogged is saying is that there is not defined blow up point or rebuild point for a patrol zd30.bogged wrote:most blow up ~70,000-120,000klms...esp22 wrote:how much kms should i expect out of a 2003 GU III ST 5 speed manual 3.0 lt turbo diesel before i need a rebuild?Any other problem that ma come up
Cool, so I've already beaten your odds ay and I do not think that I'm in the minoritybogged wrote:most blow up ~70,000-120,000klms...esp22 wrote:how much kms should i expect out of a 2003 GU III ST 5 speed manual 3.0 lt turbo diesel before i need a rebuild?Any other problem that ma come up
Unless one of your injectors starts dripping instead of misting.whitiepatrol4x4 wrote:Cool, so I've already beaten your odds ay and I do not think that I'm in the minority![]()
Get yourself an EGT gauge and it won't blow up at all cause you can keep an eye on what the electronics are doing.
I would guess a rebuild due to mechanichal wear would be past the 500 thou K mark based on what people have reported when pulled down at 250 thou.
Do you think you would guess something was wrong with less power and an increase in fuel usage?Yom wrote:Unless one of your injectors starts dripping instead of misting.whitiepatrol4x4 wrote:Cool, so I've already beaten your odds ay and I do not think that I'm in the minority![]()

But that could happen to ANY direct injection/common rail diesel anyway couldn't it.
