Modded my Rangie...Now The EVOLUTION of Bob! More pics up...

Ok...so as some of you may know, I bought Aquarangie's 87 classic a little over a year ago. It came with a 2" lift, 40mm body lift, 33" Silverstones, a custom bull bar, winch and a few other goodies here and there. I named him Bob - Blue old Bomb :D

When I bought it I was planning on running 35" Creepies so I set about doing a toy conversion on the diffs and bought some RoverTracks chromo axels front and rear with longfield 30 spline CVs. This is how Bob looked when I re-registered him with the 33" Silverstones...

Then I got a great deal on 37" Creepies and put in a 3" lift from Zordo's using Lovells springs and shocks. I also added some 25nb tube to the sliders that were already there and this is how it looked...

So that was all good and I was happy with that...for a time. Then time came to do a bit of cosmetic work to the front end. I had smashed the passenger side indicator and figured it would be easier just to tube the front end instead of replacing the broken bit :armsup: . So I went up to my good mate, Nottie's place for a weekend and we started making Bob look a bit better...

Off came the front guards, headlight assemblies, grill, and anything else that was deemed to be in the road. Pardon the quality of the pics - these are from my phone :oops:

The battery trays got trimmed a little and the bullbar also copped some love from the angle grinder :D

Then we started bending up some tube and after a few trial runs, decided on these lines...

A few hours later, and after some sleep in the shed in our swags, this is how Bob emerged from the shed at Nottie Enterprises :armsup: This pic is bad quality...sorry

I will get some better pics today with my camera and post them up.

looks great...Did you reuse your original headlights?

Yeah not real sure...but then again I have indicators, parkers and the tyres are more than covered by the tube work.

Hey Andrew...that is actually the first time that I have used the roof racks. I forgot all about them and I was wondering how I was going to get the lengths of tube up to Nottie's...then I looked in my shed and saw the roof racks hiding in the corner.

We did re-use the factory headlights. They are next on the list of upgrades.

There's another piece of steampipe that is mounted to the sliders that will eventually form the rest of the tube work for the internal/external cage later on.

In the pic with the Corona bottle you can just see it behind the tyre.

Looks good, knew I sold the Rangie to the right bloke :D

See my roof and gutter siliconed flares are still holding on plus my dodgy wiring :oops:

Great work looks the goods but does it comply with qld trans? Dont the front guards have to be in place and the whels covered? they coming down on us lately ( or is it just me lol ). i love the rangies n would buy one in a flash, good luck with it, hope to see it out there someday

From a top view of the car you can't see any of the tyres, so that concern is a non issue. But I am not quite sure about the amount of tyre showing in the front profile. I don't think there is much more than say a Hummer or a lifted Hilux with a tubed front bar.

Time will tell. And I'm guessing the 37s will be more of a concern than the amount of panels left.

ah good work gents, can't really remember what it looked like on sat night :D

but i think the extra indicator is a must, i can't remember the angle but it has to be seen from a certain angle side on.

only thing i can see the bacon saying is that they cant see the blinker from side on, so id say mount one in the rear of the guard, so you have all angles covered.

looks interesting :cool:

Yeah there will be a side Blinker fitted to it. Same as the front one i think??
As far as transport goes you can get raped if you remove the inner guard. Outer guard i think we are pretty covered .
Also alot of the bracing and such is all in place for more future tube work :lol:
If we didnt want to cut the battery box underside then there is a way to drop the lower tube piece so it covers the underside of the full battery box.
Micka or myself does have pics of how i first run the lines of it somewhere.
If we cant find them then you will have to wait till my Reggie is done as the tube will be like i first had Mickas.

That was the idea, the flares never got ripped off after that. I had then come off a couple of times on trips hence the silicon and more tek screws :twisted:

Looks good, nice tubework too :armsup:

At least you don't have to worry about those bloody tailights anymore being hammerd on offending rocks (I smashed a couple when I owned BOB hence the light guards :twisted: ). I see my dodgy brothers rear bar got the flick, wasn't the most appealing fabrication work I've done but it did the job :D

Guess I'll have to watch for the next 4WD custom mag in a few months.
