Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all

Been long time...I am thinkin of buying a fj45 ute.. and i got a good ford 302 V8 that I'd like to fit in to the ute.. but my concern is .. what's really involved in this.. how will the gearbox fit in? adapt plate or something. where would the best place to find one of those as i live in toowoomba up in qld.

Will the V8 just fit in fine with the orgonial engine mounts or is there mod involved?

Would it be possible to change over from drum brakes to disc brake? from what part do i need to get to get this done?

All your answers would be great help to make up my mind what i'd have to do.

there is abit of playing around to be done , i do have a dellow bellhousing , l/c 4sp to ford v8 if your after one

if u stick with the original box and transfer u shouldnt need to move it to fit the 302,i have a 302 in my 60 series,mounts u will need to change,unless someone makes a cradle type that mounts on front of 302 and bolts to the original toyota mounts,my 45 ute with 350 chev has that type of mount,my 40 has new mounts welded to chassis,another chev,as does the 60 though thats the 302,theres always a fiddly thing to do here and there with conversions,but theres many ways to do it,the good thing with 40,s is its been done many a time,holden and chev v8s more though,but theres quite a few with fords,but yeah,most conversion kits have original gearbox and transfer in factory spot,the adaptor kit then spaces motor in right area from there,then you have to work out engine mount position

as for disc brakes,just soure later model 40 series stuff,invluding master cylinder,or u can adapt 60 series discs,theres a few options out there
