Can you explain that a bit better?

So you had a X link but sold it, but might buy an X link because of the lock out?

I had a 5 link but sold it and fitted drop arms.

this is really the relevant question in the post, so maybe someone can answer it.

"so i pretty much want to hear from people with or who knows any one with a five link"

Translate;

"I want to know what people think of either their;
- bolt on 5 link kits
- the weld on/modified 5 link kits people obtain from a 4wd workshop"

my experience with the bolt on kits, well there good, Had one in sammy vags swb nissan and he stated it was supposed to give an additional 3" of drop on the front end, however, I'm not sure how its going atm as his shocks were to short. I tried to call him before but he didnt want to answer his phone. Wrapping it up, he did gain more flex, it drove the same on the road in a straight line, he took it easy through the corners and i think he paid about 5 hundy second hand, and it took an afternoon to fit. IMO i thought it was a bit "flimsy", bolts and arms were a bit light on but if you bend it, you bend it.
In the for sale a while ago, mike (I think) was selling a bolt in 5 link kit for 7hundy in great condition.

Regarding the x link, i personally wouldn't bother because in my driving environment, dosnt call for one. With the x link, you weld the pin onto the std diff and lets say you jump the good old GQ off a sand dune, and you bend the front end... what do you do now?
You need to get the lock out pins on the xlink, as it keeps it all under control.

In summery, i'd be weighing up what you want from the patrol, and where your going to drive it. How much of the gear your placing on it wank factor and how practical is it. I kept my post pretty general, as the question asked is general.

Got some superior superflex arms , very happy with the flex and handling on the road. Maybe the easy option , don't know how much more you would get from a five link ?
