A mate of mine has an 06 current model hilux with 2" spacers under the front and was wondering what size tyres he can go up to. He is changing rims to 16" sunnies so offset can be changes. What do you guys recommend with that size lift also what offset is recommended? He'd like to go as big as possible.

286/75/16 should fit easy enough...

Is that supposed to be 285/75 or 265/75?

He's probably going to go 265/75/16's which measure about 31.6 x 10.5

legally he can only go 15mm larger diameter than the maximum tyre size listed on his placard. :x

If he gets it engineered (around $400 for the test and certificate) he can do whatever size he wants

dont worry bout engineering the tyres....

with a 2" lift, you wont get bigger than a 265/75x16...you can mount these on the factory offset (+30) 16x7 rims or even 16x8 rims with a +20 offset for a little bit of a fatter look.

may need only front mudflap removal if going to be flexing the suspension alot offroad.

There is no way you'll fit 285's with a 2" lift unless its only going to sit in your driveway and look pretty.

I have a 3" lift on mine, run 16x8's with a zero offset which is what you need to kep the tyre away from the edge of the upper control arm, and even then I needed to do quite abit of trimming of the inner guard and modifying the bashplate under the wings of the arb bar so there is clearance when the tyres are fully tucked in.

with a 2" lift, you "may" get away with a skinny 33, that being the 255/85x16 if run on a 16x7 with a +20 offset, thou you'll need to trim into the rear of your guards so theres clearance when fully tucked in.

On a side note, get your mate to piss the spacers off, they are nothing but trouble. They lower your bottoming out position, so you'll be bottoming out the strut before the Lower control arm hits the bump stop, because almost no one extends the bump stops when fitting a spacer lift, and ive seen what damage bottoming out a spacer lift can do.. The strut collapses and can pull the driveshaft out of the front diff with some internals......no warranty there, but that is an extreme case.

hope that helps.
