500 when cold?

Mine is probably a bad example to compare to but, mine idles at 2000rpm when cold!

When warm, around 900. And with lights on, and warm about 1400rpm.

It is supposed to idle higher with lights on. But to idle at only 500rpm when cold, maybe choke isn't working properly?

The carby has a high idle adjustment. When you turn your lights on there is a little vacuum controlled idle up that lifts the idle slightly to allow for the increased electircal load. From memory you should have a normal idle of 700 at NOT, and a high idle of 900 at NOT. Get a mate to turn the lights on and off while you watch the front of the carby and you will see the idle up move. It should be simple to just wind it back a bit to get it in the right position.

It sounds like your choke isnt working either, as Mike said it should idle up when cold then slow down at it warms up.
