Can you get an Anderson plug double adaptor.

I need 2 outlets at the back 1 for the Engel and 1 for the camper.
I was hoping i did not have to cut and splice the wires that are there

If you don't want to touch the existing wires there, you could buy three anderson plugs and make up a double adapter of your own. It would be quite a short piece so going down a size in wire to fit double wires into one plug shouldn't be a problem.

Thsi would be the least dodgy approach. Given you are using Anderson plugs to begin with one would assume you are chasing maximum current for your chosen use at that distance so to then split it in 2 defeats the benefit of the set up to a degree. I would run 2 dedicated wiring runs and conectors. You can get a red anderson plug too in the same size if you want to ensure they never get cross connected if that's an issue.

doesnt an engel only pull 2-3 amps. for a trailer you can run through a trailer plug or for a car run it through a ciggy lighter for flexability

That is why i am running Anderson plugs as is melted the standard 6 pin round plug last time (but still worked )

Thought about changing to one of the 12 pin plugs, they have some larger than normal plugs for higher loads.

I would stick with running 2 seperate circuits right from the battery. That way if one fails the other is still available so you only loose one system.

Also an engel that's just cruising does only draw about 2-3 amps but can draw more when under heavy load. Also it's not about the amperage only it's more about getting a full 12 volts to everything you want to have 12 volts with. Sharing off the one line may compromise that.

I remember in some of Engels instructions they also prefer you don't piggy back off the fridge power feed for anything else either.

You don't say what sort of load you are using in the camper.

For the cost of a bit of wire and a couple of connectors I have 1 circuit inside the wagon for the Engel, another inside for a camp light and a third to the towbar dedicated to the van for charging and topping up the batteries whilst running the 3 way fridge on 12 volt while travelling.

Don't ever bother running anything decent off the cig lighter in the car unless you upgrade that wiring circuit and preferrably toss the cheap arse cig plug the manufacturer likely used and putting a good aftermarket one in. Car cig lighters are good for running your navman or the kids portable dvd or charging your mobile and that's about it.

what he said.. fwiw, yes I'd run a second one.

Onteh input of the first anderson plug (Car side) just parralle off this to a second plug.
Seen this done before for a similar setup and never heard of any bad outcomes.
