hi guys, iv just recently bought a 1985 toyota hilux and am having a few problems with it, slowly fixing them, but i have no idea the code name for it, like, lnr105 or watever, and its a shit to find parts for atm. its a 1985 2L petrol motor, dual cab. and also does anyone know wat diesel motor would fit into it. maybe a 2.8 diesel?

Will be an ln 65 have a look for the chassis number inside the drivers side wheel well on the chassis. 2.8 will fit, pretty much bolt in and go.

And 2.8 will still bolt in but will need to source glow plug timers and stuff for it.

hey LN65 is deisel i think it is an rn65 as mentioned above
also deisel engines run on different gear ratios to petrol would have to change diff centres gearbox and transfer. i investigated this a wile ago when i wanted to go from deisel to petrol. you are better off trying to find a lexus v8, or comoodore v6 and conversion kit.
hope this helps

If it's the 2 litre petrol, ie - 3Y then the chassis code will be YN65..
RN65 has the 22R donk which is a cross-flow 2.4 litre petrol
Hope this helps

If it was me I'd just get a diesel gearbox and keep the petrol diff ratios, which I believe are 4.88s correct me if I'm wrong, which would be perfect for running 33s or 35s

x2 they are fine even without going much bigger tyres. you just rev a little more.
