Outer Limits 4x4 Board

does useing lowrange in 2wd (front hubs unlocked) cuase any damage to the transfer box?

not that i have been, but i'v allways wondered if it does or not.

I can't see how it can, but on most 4x4's the instructions say not to

I've done it a few times in both my 60 and my rocky, never seemed to do any harm.

It just means the front shaft is turning the gears in the diff and the front axles, but they aren't connected at the wheels so it shouldn't be putting a strain on anything.

nope- your just physically disconnecting the wheels from the axles- everything else runs as expected in 4wd.

16yrs of doing it in my lux (been in the family that long!) and its still shmicko!
