Outer Limits 4x4 Board

gday first time hilux owner, well we were given an 83 petrol hilux, motor runs rough and gutless(has no muffler), also they said we can have a dual cab lux seems about same vintage (from a distance) the body is stuffed but we can have the factory turbo diesel (runs but they say may have either injector or valve problem??) out of it, would it be the better option over the petrol if so what do i need to take off the dually to install inthe single cab, this is my sons first car so many thanks for help

Id doubt that it would be a factory TD more likely an after market TD but any TD in a toyo is better than there inline petrol guzlers

well it could be a factory 2.4 turbo, just not factory for that dually.

but if the engine needs work other than say an injector it could cost big bucks. diesel engines are great as you rarely need to work on them but when you do look out.

the 2.4 diesel is also known for heads cracking and overheating. so before i did the work on an engine conversion i would want to make sure the donk was worth putting in.

you will most likely need out of the dual cab, engine, gbox (maybe not just check the trans code on the fire wall) wiring loom, rad and cooling system, the rest should be ok to find as you go, but i would personally want the donor outside while i was working on the ute.

the other thought is that old hiluxs are fairly cheap so is it worth the work?

oh and the diffs will be a different ratio between the petty and diesel but it would not be the end of the world if you didnt swap them over, it would just make the diersel rev more. and if they are a p plater it could act like a natural speed limiter
