Can someone tell me if 4.3 ratios from a 2.8TD GU fit into a '99 4.5 petrol with standard 3.9 ratios, is everything a straight swap over or is there more to it.

cheers

but that is with your hole centre not just crown gear if you just have the gear sets its a lot more work as you have to pull out the hemisphere and press out the pinion gear your better to pay someone to do it for you as you have to shim it in and do the lash and stuff

you may want to check the bits or build plate on the car, pretty sure 2.8 would have 4.6's

Thanks for that, i thought that 2.8's had 4.6 aswell, is there a way to tell what ratios they are , it is just the crown wheel and pinion

on the drown wheel it will have a code stamped, cant remember what it is exactly, but it will be like 37:9 you devide the larger number by the smaller and you will get the ratio, the above will get you a 4.11 ratio

someone will chime in with exact codes,

the 2.8 will be 4.6 ratios...

they should bolt up as long as you have a small rear diff in your petrol gu...

The pinion flanges on the 4.6 ratio diffs out of the 2.8 are smaller and will need to be swapped so you can bolt your tail shaft in.

the compliance plate has a line that says axle and on that it will have 43, 46 etc, and the RB30 and RD28 have smaller front tailshaft using a navara size uni joint
