Hey
I've got an 89 gq with a TD42 under the bonnet, currently having trouble with fuel gettin to the engine.
If i prime the engine using the primer on top of the fuel filter, then start it and keep priming it runs, but as soon as i stop priming the revs die off untill it just stalls, it happenend suddenly, no prior spluttering or lack of power, it just died pulling out of the garrage, fitted a new filter but it still won't go, also blew out the lines with compressed air.

Is my injector pump the likely problem?

Any tips would be great thanks.

Hi A couple of things to check are the drain tap at the bottom of fuel filter ,make sure there are no hair line cracks and its not sucking air ,the second thing is under the banjo fitting on the fuel pump (where the fuel comes in ) recesed about 30mm down is a filter ,hook it out with a piece of wire with a hook bent in the end clean and replace ,this filter causes most of the fuel problems in td42 s ..cheers

Checked the banyo filter, mine doesn't actually have one in there, also there're no cracks in any of the system cause when i pressurise it there're no leaks at all.
Any other ideas?

Sounds like the filter housing might be suss. Try removing it and joining the fuel lines together. run the engine like this and see what happens.

Thanks all for the info, the injector pump was stuffed, but the oil over pressure line in the top of the rocker cover was blocked too, which was causing the vehicle to lose rpm when running too.
