Ever had the pump timing checked? It might be a bit retarded (firing too late). I'm no diesel specialist, just had a similiar problem withg my old Landcruiser. How much smoke are we talking? I've got a late 06 coil cab TD42 (still stock everything) with 63k on the clock and she blows a little bit, but its what i would consider fairly normal for an old school indirect injection diesel.
*Edit* Just re-read your post, said you've done the pump timing, did you do it yourself or have a specialist do it?

Mate I would look at winding your fuel screw back out, If she is useing as much fuel as you say.

hey guys i have had it tuned at 3 diffrent places, jc diesel, west end diesel, grame cooper and none tuned it right high exhaust temps and all that the reason why i tuned it because load the car up and then hit the f3 up and down the hills and got the exhaust temps back down, pump was just Done with injectors and tappets adjusted at west end diesel so everything has been done right had this same problem when it was stock doesnt burn any oil at all compression is 500 psi per cylinder done a comp test everything is fine.

Black smoke= too much fuel or not enough air. High exhaust temps as well is looking like lack of air. Air restrictions from the snorkel all the way to the inlet manifold and in exhaust from dump to tip.
We have had an intercooler become blocked, it made 16 at the inlet of it, but only 10 out.
