G'day,
Ive got a mate who just bought a coily.
He doesnt intent to do much to it. Just 40mm or so lift and 235/75R15s at the most.
Does anyone have info on reinforcing the top mounts of the front struts?
There are no problems as yet, yet we jsut want to avoid potential problems in the future.
thanks

i rekon just plating around the holes at the top would be the go, this is what happens to them. even welding on a thick washer would be the go

So long as you can train some mice to weld.
The repair I did was on a car with a bodylift and it was still very tight to get in there- That was from on top. From underneath, you'll have to deal with welding upside down into a cup with the shock and springs removed, and then deal witht e gap between the washer and the domed shape of the factory mount.

Is this a common problem with coily's?
Does it only happen after bigger springs have been fitted?
Cheers

Yes it is a common problem.
My guess is the springs have less to do with it than the shocks. A higher shock rate will transmit more force into the mount, causing fatigue quicker.
