oil pressure problems after engine swap (1.3 to 1.6 sierra)

have just fitted a 1.6 to my sierra, did the whole adaptor plate thing, that was no worries..but the sump and pickup from the 1.3 also was swapped over, got the whole thing running ok,but i have low oil pressure
has anyone had similar probs after this conversion,or is it just a dicky oil pump...the 1.6 has been sitting for 6 month before transplant.
am worried to run the motor for any length of time, just in case she runs dry and siezes on me??

check the oil pressure with a proper gauge, its the only way to tell if its right.

did you modify the pick-up to suit the spiggot in the 1.6? or just install as-is?. if you installed as-is than your in for some pressure problems. if you have run it for any length of time like this than the damage may allready have been done.

As joeblow says, make sure youre pickup has the right size connection that goes into oil pump, as the 1.3 pickup is the wrong size, you would have to cut and graft it with the 1.6, also make sure the O-ring is there. Make sure the pickup is in correct position too, with the sump on it should be 10mm or so from the bottom of the sump as viewed through the drain hole.
After that, sometimes the pressure control valve can sieze, i have just recently had this problem and it caused damage to my crankshaft as per
THIS thread.
From asking around a few zook experts outside this forum, a few of them do the relief valve but none has ever had an oil pump fail.

yeah..i did the cut and graft from the old vit pick up,but did not notice any o-ring,i am going to pull it back out any way..what have people done in regards to getting a second mounting point for the pickup ,as the nearest point for the sierra pick up to bolt to is at the big end bearing and i aint gonna do that!

Gday mate , where did you get the adapter plate from?

Search for a member called BenT his stuff looks nice, the people that have used them have been happy. (when I redo a dodgy overnight emergancy install of a 1.6 I will be using Ben's stuff)

There should definately be an O-ring. As for the 2nd mounting point, definately dont bolt it to the big end lol, it rather moves round and round with the piston. There will be a tapped hole in one of the main bearings which you can use for a 2nd mount. Just make sure the big end caps dont hit youre pickup as the engine rotates.

Thanks guy. Magneto, I think you've been in touch with me already, but if not, shoot me a PM if you need a kit.
There is a pic of my kit in my signature below.
