have a search mate - a 1.3 will turn 44's if you have the gearing to do it...
The issue will be how much wheel speed you can produce from that gearing though.

Huntn, where abouts in melbourne are you? I'd be keen to see this tray back sierra springover/springunder of yours.

what v8 will fit .. that depends on the amount of work your willing to do and if you ever want to register the vehicle for road use.
If you pick a motor it has probarbly been installed in a Zuk everything from a 660cc turbo 3cyl to 5.7V8's I have even heard of a strait 6 red motor being shoe horned in ..
I used to run 35's on my Zuk with a warmed up 8v 1.6 it is a pretty easy install, a better motor but more complex install i sthe 16v 1.6 vitara motor, with some decent gearing say a 6:1 rockehopper and some 4.8 or 5.1 diffs, should allow good road speeds with great crawlability and excellent off camber manners ..

Grey Zook / Huntn,
What you are proposing with the Rover v8 sounds very similar to what NAM has tried to do in the past. It could be worthwhile finding out a bit about it from him. As far as i am aware - this combination was never going to be made street legal (if that is a consideration for you).

Even better again would be a twin cam Vitara 4cyl.
